*The AltimeterOne is a sensitive instrument and it is enclosed in a sturdy case. However, we do not recommend leaving this unit on a hawk while in the weathering yard. It is important to put it on the bewit up close to the leg so it is not dangling below, which would create a situation where it can be flung forward upon impact. These units are sturdy but not indestructible. *This instrument is best used in training or when the falconer knows from the weather or location his hawk may fly very high and wants to know the height. It will help the falconer learn to understand what different pitches look like also. *The unit is not currently in a waterproof case so it should not be used in inclement weather or allowed to be submerged in water. Too much water will destroy the unit. When used correctly, we warranty the unit to work and be extremely accurate.
