Falconry Transmitter

A falconry transmitter is an important part of training and using a bird for the purpose of falconry. It allows the falconer to track the location of the bird--and even what the bird is doing--in case the bird does not return to the falconer in due time. Birds of prey are known to fly away from the falconer for various reasons, and the falconry transmitter makes sure that the bird is not lost.

The transmitter is a small device that is usually attached to the bird's ankle by means of a leather strap. It can also be attached with a simple plastic tie. However, transmitters attached in this way are sometimes known to interfere with the bird's natural movements, particularly in flight and when catching game.

Mike's Falconry Supplies Stocks Top-Brand Falconry Transmitters and Receivers

Mike's Falconry Supplies stocks a huge variety of products such as:

  • Radio-tracking falconry transmitters and receivers
  • Accessories that include aluminum tail mount clips, carrying cases and batteries
  • A large assortment of other products that include apprentice kits, gloves, food, bells, perches and leather tools

There are other methods for attaching the transmitter to the bird so that there is no interference. One method, which must be applied extremely carefully, is super gluing the transmitter to the feathers of the bird. This should only be accomplished by a seasoned falconer, as the application must not affect the flying mechanism of the bird.
