Falconry Swivels

Falconry swivels have become a necessary part of a falconer's list of gear, and serve a very useful function in the handling and caring of birds. A variety of birds can be used for falconry, including many species of hawks, falcons and eagles. When not hunting, the bird is kept in a chamber known as a mews, and is attached to its perch by a strip of leather.

The attachment point where the leather is connected must be kept free of knots. This is where the falconry swivel comes into play. Swivels used to be made of cloth, but now stainless steel is the material of choice, since it is rigid and much more durable. The swivel consists of a rounded attachment point that rotates around a spindle. This allows the jesses or leashes to rotate without any risk of entanglement.

Mike's Falconry Supplies Offers the Highest Quality Falconry Swivels Available

Mike's Falconry Supplies sells falconry swivels in a variety of different sizes, depending on the size of bird. Eagles, falcons and hawks are all used in falconry, and eagles are quite a bit larger than the smallest hawks and falcons and so require a larger-sized swivel. Mike's swivels are stainless steel and made in Britain.

Mike's Falconry Supplies also stocks an excellent variety of other equipment for the falconer, including scales, leashes, kangaroo hide jesses, perches, and many items that are custom made to fit the unique characteristics of a particular bird.
