Falconry Hunting

The art of falconry hunting began many hundreds of years ago in ancient Mesopotamia, and has since become popular in many countries around the world. Both England and Japan were major contributors to the popularity and development of falconry hunting, and many organizations and associations have emerged to promote the art.

Falcons, hawks and eagles are all used for the purposes of falconry. They are trained over many hours by their falconers to follow commands and remain docile while in the presence of humans. This acclimatization period is the most important part of the training process and is known as "manning." The bird will then follow commands to fly off and hunt small game such as rabbits and squirrels. Eagles are the largest birds used for falconry and are able to hunt for larger game such as foxes.
