Eagle Perch
An eagle perch is an essential component of any falconer's list of equipment. The eagle perch provides a stationary place for the eagle to stand on while it is being used for falconry purposes. While the eagle is in its mews (its resting chamber), it is tethered to the perch by a piece of leather wrapped around its ankle and attached to the perch itself.
Eagles and other birds of prey perch naturally in nature. An artificial perch as used by a falconer essentially replicates what the eagle wants to do by instinct. Perches generally come in two distinct styles, depending on the bird for which it is designed. Hawks typically perch on what is known as a bow perch, which is a rounded or bowed perch that allows their talons to wrap completely around the perch surface.
