Eagle Falconry
Falconry is the ancient art of using birds of prey to hunt for game, and eagle falconry dates back many hundreds of years. Falconry traces its roots back as far as the age of Mesopotamia around 700 BC, but didn't become widespread until about a thousand years ago, primarily in Europe and Japan. Today, the art and use of falconry can be found around the world, and has gained a committed following of practicing falconers.
Eagles are among the largest and most powerful of the various birds of prey used in the art of falconry. Smaller birds include hawks and falcons. Eagles are considered part of the broadwing class of birds, as classified by falconers, along with buzzards and certain species of hawks.
Mike's Falconry Supplies Provides Equipment for All Your Eagle Falconry Needs
Most species of eagles are found in Europe, Asia and Africa, with only the Bald Eagle and the Golden Eagle found in North America. Only vultures are larger than eagles, which are heavier and faster than most other birds of prey. Training and managing an eagle for falconry purposes is not without its challenges, and special care must be taken to ensure the safety of the falconer and bystanders.
Mike's Falconry Supplies offers a wide variety of equipment for falconers no matter what their levels of expertise are, from radio tracking receivers and transmitters to apprentice kits for novice falconers.
